Distinction at “Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance” to undergraduate student of AUEB’s Department of Management Science and Technology
George Karavas, fourth-year student, with MINPLUS team, won the first prize of the Most Valuable project (MVP) category, at the annual Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance (YICGG), held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 15th-18th July, co-financed by United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
In this year's competition, entitled "Back to the Ocean: Sustainable Development in a Shared Future", the Greek student and the rest of his team, Anna Branets (Ukraine), Lê Na (Vietnam), Nazahath Ahmed (Maldives), Filip Lariu (Romania), Radhe Ayu (Indonesia) and Wei Jun S. Chan (Singapore), were awarded for their idea MINPLUS. MINPLUS is a social enterprise on upcycling plastic, involving social groups in developing countries.
Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance (YICGG) is organized by Fudan University of China and acts as a platform to raise global issues, offering to students an opportunity to interpret and spread their ideas in the field of Global Governance.
MINPLUS team competed with 78 students, from 49 universities and 39 countries. United Nations is next milestone, where MINPLUS is invited to present its idea.
