CHATZOPOULOU ELENA

Dr. Elena Chatzopoulou is an Assistant Professor of Marketing in the Department of Business Administration (ODE) and holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from Newcastle University (United Kingdom).

She has served as an Associate Professor of Marketing and Digital Marketing at universities in the United Kingdom and France, and as a Visiting Professor of Marketing at IESEG School of Management in France. Additionally, she is a member of the research funding evaluation committees for the European Union (e.g., AGRIP-SIMPLE-2021, AGRIP-MULTI-2021) and Serbia (Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia).

Before joining academia, Dr. Chatzopoulou worked in the industry as a Marketing Manager.

Dr. Chatzopoulou has supervised numerous dissertation theses and provided consulting services to companies specializing in marketing, digital marketing, and communication.

She has taught in both traditional and digital environments at undergraduate and postgraduate/MBA level. Some of the courses she has taught include Digital Consumer, E-business, Branding, International Marketing, Emerging Markets, and Integrated Marketing Communications for all of which she has received excellent student evaluations.

During her academic tenure in the United Kingdom, she was certified as a fellow of the Higher Education - UKPSF (D2).

Her work has been selected for publication in the book "Principles of Marketing" (8th edition) by renowned Marketing Professors Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong, Lloyd C Harris & Hongwei He.

Dr. Chatzopoulou has received the "Teaching Excellence Award" from the Academy of Marketing, the "Best Paper Award" at the IFIP e-Business, e-Services and e-Society conference, and recognition as an "outstanding reviewer" and for "exceptional contribution to the review of articles for publication" from the journal Computers in Human Behavior. One of her articles has been distinguished as a top-cited article in the international scientific journal Journal of Consumer Behaviour.

Her research interests focus on digital marketing, food and restaurant marketing, consumer behaviour, consumer experience, authenticity, and quality. Her research has been published in international scientific journals (all in 2-4 ABS lists) and international and Greek media outlets (e.g. Chronicle, TA NEA, Naftemporiki).

She is the author of the book "Ethnic Hospitality Marketing - Authenticity and Quality Constructions in the Greek Food Industry," published by Routledge. She serves as an Editorial Review Board (ERB) member for the Journal of Business Research.

Dr. Chatzopoulou has served as the scientific coordinator of the first business/student conference of the ODE department, titled "ODEYONTAS GIA... WORK-LIFE BALANCE," which was exclusively sponsored by private enterprises and involved the participation of forty (40) volunteer students.
