Dimeli Sophia
Sophia P. Dimelis is Professor at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). She holds a BA in Economics from Athens School of Economics and Business Science (1976), a BA in Political Science from Pantios Superior School of Political Science (1979), a MSc and PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, USA (1987). She has taught economics, econometrics and time-series analysis at the Economics Department of the University of Pittsburgh and the Departments of Economics, Statistics and International and European Economic Studies of AUEB. She has been invited as visiting Professor at the University of Indianapolis in the USA (2008) and the University of Sydney in Australia (2010).
She has participated in major European research projects (SPES, PHARE, CEPR, TMR). She has also been principal investigator in many other research projects and a research member of the Institute of Economic Policy Studies (ΙΜΟΠ). She has published a large number of articles in refereed journals and books, including Oxford Economic Papers, Economica, Review of World Economics, World Economy, International Journal of Production Economics, etc. She is also author of four scientific books and has presented her research in many international conferences and seminars. She has served as referee to many journals and organizations and has a large number of citations in leading journals and books. She has been selected as external evaluator by the Fulbright Institution for scholarship awards and by the European Commission for evaluating research framework programmes.
Her main research interests are in the area of econometric and time-series analysis as applied to the economics of business cycles and growth, international trade, energy economics and inventory behaviour. Her current research is focused on empirical micro-econometric analysis in the areas of foreign direct investment, information and communication technologies, knowledge capital, firm productivity and growth
